Accounting for plumbing contractors

Between service calls, new construction and warranty callbacks, plumbing margins are easy to lose track of. We cost each kind of work separately and show you what an hour of a plumber's time really earns.

What we watch for

Where the money is won or lost.

Service calls and new construction, truck stock and labor cost per hour.

01

Mix of work

Service, remodel and new construction

Each kind of work gets its own margin report, because flat-rate service and bid new construction behave very differently.

02

Pricing

Flat-rate prices that hold up

We check your flat-rate prices against the real cost of labor, parts and drive time, so the price book keeps up with costs.

03

Truck stock

Parts on trucks

Parts on trucks are inventory until they are used on a job. Tracking them keeps job costs honest.

04

Callbacks

What rework costs

Warranty and callback time is coded back to the original job, so you see what rework costs and where it comes from.

05

Retainage

Retainage on new construction

On builder and GC work, retainage held is tracked by job until it is released.
